Product Manager, Chrome Web Media Platform (Hardware) - Kirkland

Our jobs website has moved! See all of our current job openings at www.google.com/jobs.

This position is based in Mountain View, CA or Kirkland, WA.

The area: Product

One of the many reasons Google consistently brings innovative, world-changing products to market is because of the collaborative work we do in Product Management. With eyes focused squarely on the future, our team works closely with creative and prolific engineers to help design and develop technologies that improve access to the world's information. We're responsible for guiding products throughout the execution cycle, focusing specifically on analyzing, positioning, packaging, promoting and tailoring our solutions to all the markets where Google does business.

The role: Product Manager, Chrome Web Media Platform (Hardware)

You will be a member of a dynamic product team committed to making Chrome the best browser in the industry. With browsers now supporting a large subset of HTML5, it's become increasingly popular for developers to write web applications instead of using Win32 or Cocoa, so they get the broadest possible reach. There are numerous recent examples of apps and games using WebGL and Canvas 2D. Still, there is a lot more work to do to increase the performance and capability of the web platform, particularly in the area of hardware acceleration of media components. In this role, you will help plan and manage the development of hardware designs as well as hardware/software integration and product delivery with partners in the growing Chrome web media ecosystem.

As the hardware PM, you will be responsible for the helping to ensure that robust hardware support exists for all aspects of the web media platform, including by: working with Google’s international hardware IP design teams; gathering product requirements; defining product vision through close interaction with internal teams and partners; creating preliminary design concepts; and working closely with engineering to implement and iterate. On the business side, your responsibilities will include defining the product strategy, positioning, interacting with partners, helping craft marketing messaging, and all elements related to the business case. The role requires working closely with engineers, hardware vendors, and OEMs/ODMs to assess and prioritize features and requirements.
